Role Description/Criteria

We are thrilled to announce 5 brand new ESCC Learning Specialist positions at MacKillop commencing 07 October 2024!

Join us as we expand into this exciting program to assist Children and Young People with Educational Support. Our aim is to support Children and Young People's by providing a program that delivers high-quality services that have a positive educational experience. These Children and Young People may have experienced trauma, placement breakdowns and/or challenges to school engagement.

Our programs ensure that learning is a positive experience that offers not only academic success but also nurtures the young people’s social and emotional wellbeing. We do this by adopting a holistic, trauma-informed model of practice that promotes safety, positive relationships, and creates a supportive learning environment.

We are proud to say that during 2023, our Education Programs supported over 700 students across Victoria to remain engaged or to re-engage with learning.

This isn't your average classroom teachers' position, this model of education means that no two days will be the same and your classroom will be dynamic and held at variable locations in the Eastern program. The position provides you with the opportunity to deliver one-on-one education and provide specialist education support, advocacy, school-based and targeted learning interventions, outreach, tutoring, enrolment support, and access to student brokerage. By adopting a more individualised, flexible approach to learning, we support Young People to achieve their learning goals, transition back to mainstream, or access vocational training or further education.

As an ESCC Learning Specialist you'll need to create and implement customised educational programs that address each Young Person's unique needs, which includes providing focused support in both numeracy and literacy to assist them to achieve their full potential.Ìý

In this position, you'll receive support from an experienced Coordinator who will guide you, as well as from a dedicated team of professionals. The Coordinator will help you navigate the role, providing advice and assistance when needed, while the wider team will offer collaborative support and share their expertise to ensure you have the resources required to succeed.

This position is a chance for you to use your skills and experience to help re-engage and ultimately improving Children and Young People life outcomes through education.
