The Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ) referral process is embedded within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) and is based on a school’s detailed evidence of a student’s need for provision of adjustment and intervention.

Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ' Student Engagement staff link closely with Learning Diversity, Student Wellbeing and Student Support Leaders and teams in schools to support them in building teacher capability to address the needs of their students through curriculum adjustments and student programs.

Learning Diversity staff provide consultation services for referred students following submission of an online consultation.

Schools, in collaboration with parents/carers, are able to access consultation and support for:

  • building inclusive school-wide support structures and processes where curriculum, pedagogy and assessment are personalised
  • the development of Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs), Cultural Support Plans, Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), Student Safety Plans (SSPs), Student Health Support Plans (SHSPs), Attendance Maximisation Plans (AMPs), Safety plans and risk assessments
  • issues related to access and participation, mobility and communication
  • the development of school-wide structures and processes related to positive behaviour support and/or the implementation of PBL
  • the design of curriculum adjustments and strategies to differentiate learning for students requiring adjustments, including gifted students
  • the analysis of data to identify the specific needs of students, and match these to an intervention or specific strategy or to design appropriate adjustments and interventions which are research-validated or evidence-based
