There are a range of health conditions students may present with.

Schools will request the parents/guardians/carers of the child who has a diagnosed health care, personal care need or relevant medical condition to provide an up-to-date Medical Management Plan for their child, using a general or condition specific medical management plan signed by an authorising registered medical/health practitioner.This will include common conditions such as: asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, encopresis, anaphylaxis Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ has developed a Medical Management Policy and procedures to ensure Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ’ schools meet their responsibilities and duty of care for managing the medical needs of students with diagnosed medical conditions, health care needs, wellbeing and/or personal care needs, to support students’ equitable access and participation in education.

Anaphylaxis

Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction which requires life-saving medication. A severe allergic reaction usually occurs within 20 minutes of exposure and can rapidly become life-threatening. Anaphylaxis must be treated as a medical emergency, requiring immediate treatment and urgent medical attention.

Each Catholic school in Victoria has an Anaphylaxis Management Policy which includes the training of relevant staff. A medically approved individual Anaphylaxis Management Plan is developed for each student at risk and parents are required to provide this plan and their child’s EpiPen® to the school.

The Victorian Catholic Education Authority (VCEA) has made provision for schools to access training in First Aid response to Anaphylaxis

VCEA Therapy Services

Therapy Services are available to eligible students in Catholic schools who have a physical or multiple disabilities and who require physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy as an integral component of their educational program. The VCEA currently engage Scope Australia to provide services and schools apply for the VCEA Therapy and Equipment Program annually.
