Role Description – Learning and Teaching/Literacy/ Maths Leader will:

ÌýLearning and Teaching

  • Have the skills and understandings of Contemporary Learning & Teaching and Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Vision for Instruction
  • Facilitate a school wide approach, identifying the natural connections between literacy concepts, and the Victorian CurriculumÌý
  • Have a sound understanding of contemporary educational practice (Science of Learning)
  • Build the capacity of teachers to develop content & pedagogical knowledge, sharing expertise & skills in curriculum development
  • Attend and support level planning to ensure that scope and sequence is implemented effectively and with appropriate continuity
  • Support teachers to increase expertise in assessment including data interpretation and analysis to inform teaching decisions
  • Support teachers and leaders in tracking and monitoring student progress and planning for the needs of students with the Learning Diversity TeamÌý
  • Facilitate the planning of Inquiry Units with class teachers each term
  • Organise relevant excursions and experiences as required
  • Coordinate the development of semester reports with the classroom teachers and ICT Leader
  • Build positive relationships and assist in creating learning environments where all are valued, engaged and challenged
  • Support other leaders in the management of the school as required

Literacy

  • Plan with teachers, empowering them to develop literacy instruction that aligns with the science of learning
  • Rich knowledge of and passion for texts that engage readers at all levels of the school
  • Build capacity of teachers to develop strategies specific to EAL learners
  • Have experience and understanding of the EAL Continuum and CurriculumÌý
  • Manage, purchase, disseminate and collect learning and teaching resources
  • Demonstrate effective communication and organisational skills and have the ability to plan collaboratively, be flexible, proactive and resourceful.
